Revelstoke Iron Grizzly was founded by brothers Scott and Brett Renaud, experienced landfill operators who saw a better way. In 2007, while managing the Revelstoke Landfill in British Columbia, they faced a familiar yet costly problem—daily soil cover was consuming valuable airspace, inflating operational costs, and limiting landfill efficiency.

Unimpressed by existing alternatives such as: fragile tarps, expensive foam, and time-intensive spray-on solutions,  the Renaud brothers took matters into their own hands. Drawing on their hands-on expertise and practical mindset, they engineered the Revelstoke Iron Grizzly (R.I.G.) System: a durable, reusable daily cover system that delivers uncompromising performance with minimal hassle.

The R.I.G. quickly caught the attention of industry leaders. Dr. Tony Sperling, P.Eng., President of Sperling Hansen Associates and a recognized authority in landfill engineering. 

After analyzing the effectiveness of Iron Grizzly, Dr. Sperling endorsed the system for its innovation and operational value. With the support of Dr. Sperling, the R.I.G. gained formal approval from the British Columbia Ministry of Environment and is now trusted by over 40 landfills in BC, 4 in the Yukon and 6 in Alberta.
